Members App: HotFix Channel

This guide covers how to switch your BoxMate app to the HotFix channel to access quick bug fixes before they are released to everyone.

📝 Overview

BoxMate runs up to three app versions at any time - Production, BETA, and HotFix. The HotFix channel is sometimes available after an update and contains quick fixes for issues that are not yet ready for a full release.

Switching to this channel lets you access those fixes early.


📲 App Channels Explained

BoxMate uses three channels that you can switch between at any time.

Production - The live app that everyone uses. This is the latest fully tested and approved release.

BETA - The next version of the app, which becomes available close to new updates for preview testing.

HotFix - Sometimes available after an update with quick fixes for issues that are not yet fully tested or bundled into a full release. Once finished, the HotFix version becomes the new Production version.


🔥 Joining the HotFix Channel

Follow the steps below to switch to the HotFix channel and check for available fixes.

  1. From the Home tab, tap the BoxMate logo at the top of the screen.

  2. Scroll down to the App Details / Advanced section.

  3. Tap Join HotFix Channel, then tap Check For Updates.

  4. If a HotFix version is available you will be prompted to update. Select Continue and the app will update and reload.


🔄 Switching Back to Production

If you want to return to the live production version, follow the same steps above but select the Production channel instead of HotFix.

What is the difference between HotFix and BETA?

BETA contains upcoming features for preview testing. HotFix contains quick bug fixes for the current version that are not yet ready for a full release to everyone. Once the HotFix is finalised, it becomes the new Production version.

Is a HotFix always available?

No. A HotFix version is only available when the BoxMate team has released fixes that are not yet bundled into a full production update. If no HotFix is available, tapping Check For Updates will let you know there are no updates.

Will switching channels affect my data?

No. Your scores, progress, and account data are stored on the server and are not affected by switching between channels.
